Meet Jill M. Forcina Hill, PhD, RN, OCN, CHPN
As an Oncology Patient Education Coordinator at the N.C. Cancer Hospital, Jill helps develop and manage a comprehensive, coordinated patient education program extending from outreach to survivorship for UNC cancer patients.
Mandy Holliday, MPH, RD, LDN, CNSC
As an outpatient oncology dietitian in the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program, Mandy works with patients undergoing and/or recovering from surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy and provides individual based interventions to help ensure they can meet their nutrition goals.
Meet Mary Cromer, LCSW
As a clinical social worker in the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program, Mary helps patients and their families cope with the emotional, social and financial impact of a cancer diagnosis by providing information, resources, and supportive counseling. She assesses each person’s situation, identifies barriers to treatment and provides assistance with problem solving as needed.
Jennifer Spring, RD, LDN
As an outpatient oncology dietitian in the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program, Jennifer works with patients before, during, and after cancer treatment to identify barriers to good nutrition and to find creative ways to overcome them.
Catherine Fine, MS, CGC
As a genetic counselor, Catherine educates patients and their families about inherited cancer syndromes, and facilitates genetic testing and follow-up care for those individuals who may be at an increased risk for cancer.
Michelle Manning, MPH
As the Administrative Coordinator of the Carolina Well Cancer Survivorship Program funded by the V Foundation and the LIVESTRONG Foundation, Michelle Manning, MPH, oversees the development of programs for cancer survivors and their loved ones across the state.
Anna McCullough, MSW, MSPH
As the program manager for the N.C. Cancer Hospital's Nicotine Dependence Program, Anna works with patients who are ready to quit using tobacco. She helps them develop a quit plan, which includes counseling and, when appropriate, medication. She also provides ongoing support in becoming tobacco-free.
Cecile Skrzynia, MS, CGC
As a genetic counselor, Cecile interacts with people who are concerned about the possibility of a hereditary condition in their family, either a hereditary cancer syndrome or an adult onset hereditary condition.
James P. Evans, MD, PhD
As director of UNC's Cancer Genetics program, Dr. Evans oversees adult and cancer genetics services at UNC, teaches and pursues research.
Ofri Leitner, MS, CGC
As a clinical assistant professor of genetics and a genetic counselor, Ofri works with a team of providers to identify individuals who have an increased chance to have a hereditary cancer syndrome. She also provides genetic counseling at the UNC Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia clinic and the pediatric Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic.
Meet Liz Sherwood, RN, MS, ANP-C
As the coordinator for Carolina Well's survivorship programs, she helps provide programs that empower cancer survivors and their families to have the highest possible quality of life. The programs include integrative medicine (yoga, massage, acupuncture), exercise and nutrition, and emotional support for moving towards wellness after cancer including addressing body image concerns, stress management, and dealing with uncertainty.
Meet Tina Shaban, RN, BSN, OCN
As Manager of Oncology Outreach Services at the N.C. Cancer Hospital, Tina is responsible for the everyday operations of the Comprehensive Cancer Support Program's Patient and Family Resource Center and its wide scope of patient support and education services. Her favorite role remains that of an oncology certified nurse, assisting our patients and families with finding the resources they need to live life fully while undergoing cancer treatment.
Meet Deborah Ballard, RN, MSN
Deborah is a patient education coordinator for the N.C. Cancer Hospital. She strives to ensure that patients and caregivers receive all of the education they need to make informed health care decisions while receiving cancer care at UNC.
Meet Cindy Rogers
Cindy's primary responsibilities are with Carolina Well, UNC Lineberger's Cancer Survivorship Program, developing cancer treatment summaries and survivorship care plans, and working with various clinics to expand the availability of these materials. She also works with health care providers in the Comprehensive Cancer Support Program to disseminate information about services and programs and with information technology departments to develop new, interactive ways of assessing our patients’ needs.
Meet Mimi Alvarez, RN, MSN, PMHCNS-BC
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist with the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program, Mimi provides counseling to patients and their families. She sees patients of all ages and in all clinical programs, from pediatric oncology to geriatric oncology.
Meet Gary Asher, MD, MPH
As Director of Integrative Medicine Services, Gary oversees the delivery of complementary and alternative therapies at the N.C. Cancer Hospital and its outpatient Survivorship Center. He also provides integrative medicine consultations for patients.
Meet Theresa Gilliam, OTR/L, ATP, CLT-LANA
Theresa provides direct lymphedema evaluation and treatment services via a collaboration between the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program and the UNC Department of Occupational and Physical Therapy (OT/PT).
Meet Patricia Cadle, MRE, BCC
Patricia is the first Oncology Chaplain at UNC Health Care and the N.C. Cancer Hospital. She joined the Pastoral Care Department as a full-time chaplain ten years ago, after three and a half years of serving part-time. Through her ministry she offers emotional and spiritual support to patients, visitors and staff affected by cancer and oversees the two sacred spaces in the N.C. Cancer Hospital - the Chapel and the Reflection Room.
Meet Anna R. Brandon, PhD, MCS, ABPP
As a clinical psychologist specializing in women's mental health, Anna works with Dr. Donald Rosenstein in training group leaders for the Cancer Transitions program and with Dr. Jennifer Mersereau in developing ways to help women of reproductive age approach making decisions about fertility preservation through cancer treatment.
Meet Valerie Collins, PT, CLT-LANA
As a physical therapist and a lymphedema therapist, Valerie helps patients reduce the physical side effects of cancer treatments such as loss of range of motion, strength, and particularly swelling (lymphedema) so that they can achieve whatever goals they set for themselves.
