With our higher than average incidence of breast and lung cancer mortality, the oncologic health disparities facing patients in Eastern North Carolina are significant. This event will focus on American Joint Committee on Cancer and other staging clinical practices, prognostic indicators, screening advancements and evidence-based guidelines to use in treatment planning, as well the end-of-life care discussions that should take place at the start of treatment.

The alternate methods of treatment offered through clinical trials have the potential to offer improved outcomes for some cancer patients. This lecture will focus on the role nursing plays in providing education and follow up to patients interested in or involved in clinical trials. RN and Allied Health lectures offer CNE and ASRT continuing education credit (upon approval) for eligible participants. We invite anyone interested to view our lectures. Community Lunch and Learn lectures are geared toward cancer patients, survivors, family, friends, and care givers/supports but anyone interested in learning more about cancer is welcome to join us.
