Rock Band of Gynecologic Oncologists Releases Debut Album, Proceeds to Benefit Gynecologic Cancer Research

In 2007, a group of six gynecologic oncologists from around the country created a rock and roll band to perform at the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists Annual Meeting. They called the band N.E.D. (No Evidence of Disease).

Two of the band members – John Boggess, MD, and John Soper, MD – work at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The group soon realized the band was an opportunity to combine their passion for their patients with their passion for music. Representatives from Motema Records in New York heard of the group and signed the band to make its first album.

The band's debut album was released during Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month on September 9, 2009. The group's goal is to raise awareness of Gynecologic Cancers and to raise money for research in that field. Proceeds from CD sales will go to Gynecologic Cancer research.
