'Mindful Mondays' refers to mindfulness practice sessions (primarily mindful stretching, insight and loving kindness meditations) hosted by Dr. Jonny Gerkin (Department of Psychiatry). Open/drop-in sessions are held (nearly) every Monday between 12:15 and 12:45pm in the Cancer Hospital chapel, across from registration (down the hallway past the Sanofi Aventis conference room). The actual practice usually spans 20-25 minutes with a few minutes set aside for potential discussion. All UNC affiliated faculty, staff, and students are welcome.

Every year, the members of Zeta Tau Alpha at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill hold the Franklin 5K to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. The race benefits the Arc of the Triangle, the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center, Ashton's Angels, and the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation. The course takes runners around the Chapel Hill campus and surrounding neighborhoods. Prizes are awarded to the top runners in each age group at the after-race party, which is accompanied with free food and local talent.
