The future of cancer care, treatment and prevention will depend upon taking advantage of these opportunities and translating the laboratory discoveries into better treatments to directly benefit our patients.

Support Specific Programs
UNC Lineberger is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center because our work spans the spectrum of research, treatment and prevention across the various specialties that make up oncology.
At the N.C. Cancer Hospital, our faculty physicians and dedicated staff provide "multidisciplinary" programs for most cancers, offering unique treatment innovations for the toughest cases through clinical trials - from novel cancer vaccines and drugs to new ways of enhancing current chemotherapy.
Many of our physicians are also scientists, conducting leading-edge cancer research that translates discovery into action, moving knowledge from the laboratory bench to the patient bedside and to communities throughout our state.

Make a Difference for Patient Treatment and Innovative Programs at the N.C. Cancer Hospital
The state’s only public cancer hospital, the 315,000 square foot N.C. Cancer Hospital was funded by an $180 million authorization of funds from the N.C. General Assembly. The hospital triples the previous patient care space and significantly increases the number of patients that can be served.
Thanks to this outstanding level of state support, gifts to the N.C. Cancer Hospital do not support bricks and mortar or day-to-day operations. Private gifts are used to support unique and expanded patient support and services.
N.C. Cancer Hospital Commemorative Tiles: You can support the N.C. Cancer Hospital Fund and recognize someone special by purchasing a commemorative tile to be displayed in the outdoor terrace of the N.C. Cancer Hospital. Purchase a commemorative tile.
Comprehensive Cancer Support Program: The N.C. Cancer Hospital is the home of UNC's Comprehensive Cancer Support Program, dedicated to helping patients and their caregivers with both the medical and non-medical components of cancer treatment, recovery and survivorship. Programs supported by this fund include much-needed patient educational materials, cancer support groups, individual and family counseling, massage therapy, nutritional counseling, symptom management and beautiful wigs, hats and scarves to warm both the head and the heart! In addition, the CCSP provides valuable assistance for economically stressed patients such as vouchers for gas, food and parking.
