Make a Difference for Patient Treatment and Innovative Programs at the N.C. Cancer Hospital
The state’s only public cancer hospital, the 315,000 square foot N.C. Cancer Hospital was funded by an $180 million authorization of funds from the N.C. General Assembly. The hospital triples the previous patient care space and significantly increases the number of patients that can be served.
Thanks to this outstanding level of state support, gifts to the N.C. Cancer Hospital do not support bricks and mortar or day-to-day operations. Private gifts are used to support unique and expanded patient support and services.

Comprehensive Cancer Support Program: The N.C. Cancer Hospital is the home of UNC’s Comprehensive Cancer Support Program, dedicated to helping patients and their caregivers with both the medical and non-medical components of cancer treatment, recovery and survivorship. Programs supported by this fund include much-needed patient educational materials, cancer support groups, individual and family counseling, massage therapy, nutritional counseling, symptom management and beautiful wigs, hats and scarves to warm both the head and the heart! In addition, the CCSP provides valuable assistance for economically stressed patients such as vouchers for gas, food and parking.
