Survivor of triple negative breast cancer

After being told she had triple negative breast cancer—an incredibly aggressive form of the disease—Lori knew she was in for the fight of her life. We must continue to cultivate our leaders in research, education, prevention and patient care, enhance strategic efforts to retain top faculty, and recruit the next generation of life-saving scientists and clinicians.

We must be empowered to take bold paths, investing in pioneering research ventures that can alter the course of cancer research, change cancer treatment in the future, and help uncover cures. We are leading efforts in cellular immunotherapy, cancer genetics, academic drug discovery, and big data. These are our “big bets”—research areas that can affect multiple disease types and provide the greatest competitive advantage across the national landscape.
Translate Research into Results
We have the ability to convert lab breakthroughs into novel clinical trials much more rapidly than other institutions. We must strengthen these capabilities to ensure that our patients have access to more personalized, more advanced and more compassionate treatments. We must also continue to provide holistic support and address the needs of all patients and families throughout their entire cancer journey.
