Donald Rosenstein serves as president of Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine
Donald Rosenstein, MD, will serve a one-year term as president of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.
The Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine is a 900 member professional organization that represents psychiatrists dedicated to the advancement of medical science, education, and healthcare for persons who simultaneously face psychiatric and general medical conditions.
Dr. Rosenstein explains, “Patients facing comorbid medical and psychiatric illnesses require specialized and coordinated care. The Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine provides leadership, research and education to advance expert care for these complex patients. At UNC, we have created an interdisciplinary team to provide such care in the N.C. Cancer Hospital.”
Dr. Rosenstein joined the UNC faculty in 2009 and came to the School of Medicine from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) where he directed the clinical program as well as serving as chief of the National Institutes of Health psychiatry consultation-liaison service. NIMH is a component of the NIH.
