Stacey Anderegg is an Hematology/Oncology Infusion Nurse at the N.C. Cancer Hospital. While at work, she administers chemotherapy and other vital medicines to patients undergoing treatment.

In her life outside the hospital, Stacey is a vocalist with a 7-woman, a cappella group called “Stella.” The 7 women of Stella have been singing together for more than 12 years. They meet regularly to rehearse their eclectic repertoire and schedule upcoming concerts, but if you asked them it’s all about the friendship.

When my co-producer Nathan and I went to film Stella during a rehearsal at the residence of one of its members, we discovered that the gathering was also a surprise birthday party for another band member. A beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday in perfect harmony led into a spontaneous bebop version of Wipe Out which ended up in laughter as the ladies passed around slices of cake and topped off their glasses of wine. It was clear that they truly enjoy each other’s company and that they value and respect one another greatly.

Stacey is dedicated to touching people through her singing as a member of Stella. She brings that same dedication to her work as a nurse – touching her patients while building a relationship with them as they undergo treatment.

We hope you enjoy a short introduction to the music of Stella in this month’s RN: Real Nurses video. To listen to more music by Stella, or to check out their concert calendar, visit: http://www.reverbnation.com/stellawomen
