Ollila, Burkhart talk about teenage tanning bed use
L-R: Drs. Ollila and Burkhart discussed teenage tanning bed use at a recent Child Fatality Task Force meeting.
Dr. Ollila is a professor of surgery, co-leader of the UNC Multidisciplinary Melanoma Program, and a member of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Burkhart is an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology. In addition to speaking at the committee meeting, they were also featured in a segment titled "Regulations at the tanning bed could soon be up for debate among lawmakers" that aired on News 14 Carolina.
“The incidence is rising. This is one risk factor you can control and have an effect on,” said Dr. Burkhart. "We're here to help you and make this a real law so your child doesn't get a skin cancer at a young age,” said Dr. Ollila.
