UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Membership
The heart and soul of any Comprehensive Cancer Center is its membership. Here is an overview of UNC Lineberger membership and instructions on how to apply to become a member.
Applicants are encouraged to read about and identify the most appropriate scientific program for their research interests. Applicants are also encouraged to discuss their research and proposed membership with the appropriate program leaders.
To apply for cancer center membership, interested individuals submit
a membership application form and supporting
materials. Supporting materials include a research statement and NIH
biosketch (with
other support). The two to three page research statement describes the
applicant’s cancer-related research and outlines credentials. The cancer
focus of the research should be clear. Cancer-relevant publications and
grant funding should be identified.
Department chairs must approve and sign the applications form. Electronic submission of the completed (but unsigned) form and all supporting materials is preferred. The signed hard copy of the application form should be submitted separately.
Send the applications to Michael O'Malley, Associate Director (clover@med.unc.edu).
Following submission of all requested materials, the Center's Program Planning Committee will review the application and determine membership status and, as appropriate, program affiliation. The Program Planning Committee meets monthly. The Center will notify applicants regarding Committee decisions.
