First Ever Purple Stride Walk Raises over $100,000 to benefit Pancreatic Cancer Research
The first ever Purple Stride Walk to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research was held at Fred Fletcher Park in Raleigh on Sunday, November 7, 2010. The event had over 720 registrants with 73 teams among them, and to date, $108,000 has been raised.
HJ Kim, MD, associate professor in UNC’s division of surgical oncology and endocrinology, gave remarks at the event.
WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel, whose mother died from pancreatic cancer, also spoke during the event.
