A Day for Renewing the Spirit

May 13 was a day for "Rockin', Walkin' and Renewin'". UNC Oncology Chaplain Pat Cadle organized several events for patients, families and staff. Over 50 participants enjoyed the many Releasing and Renewing events, including listening to prayer and inspirational readings, walking the labyrinth, participating in a Release and Renewal rock ritual, joining in singing healing songs with calming music by Women of Spirit and participating in a drumming circle. One participant wrote: "My joys run over! I was having a rough time, before I came (to the Rockin', Walkin' & Renewin' event) but now joy, peace and hope fill my heart. I can do anything. I am stronger than my fears and failures. No more will I think of what seems impossible as a challenge. Thank you for reminding me of my joy." Cadle said, "It was a beautiful day for renewing the spirit. And reading those words by a participant made all the efforts worthwhile and sums up exactly why this event was planned." |
