Doug and Anne Sessoms created a fund to support Dr. David Ollila, co-program leader of the UNC Melanoma Program.

When long-time UNC Sociology Professor Doug Sessoms had a sore on the bottom of his foot checked out, he was surprised to learn that it was melanoma. Doug wanted to do what he could to help others catch skin cancer early. He and his wife Anne have created a fund to support Dr. David Ollila, co-program leader of the UNC Melanoma Program, in his efforts to help educate physicians around the state about the warning signs of skin cancer and the treatment options available at UNC. Doug died in February 2008, and his family asked that memorial gifts be directed to the Anne and Doug Sessoms Melanoma Education Fund.
